Girls gone junkin'

This is our version of getting loaded on a Friday! Why two photos? Because I look better in the first one, but Dawn looks better in the second one. Just trying to be fair here (although I posted the one I looked better in on facebook). Dawn is the blonde one and I am the silly one doing two thumbs up. Notice our wonderful Miss Mustard Seed's aprons?

Last weekend Dawn, her sister Tricia and I spent one morning going to yard sales. Although we were looking for large pieces of furniture to paint, it was just not in the cards for us that day. But, we did manage to score a few neats items. Some stuff we will paint and other stuff will be used as photo props.

I love the rocking chair in the top picture and can't wait to give it a fresh coat of paint! The gentleman who I bought it from said it was his grandmother's and it was about 80 years old. The colour on it is similar to Miss Mustard Seed's eulalie's sky.

We picked up other random things: neat wall sconces that are going to be awesome with some of the new Fusion products like the guilding paste and tinting kits; an old flip-a-top crate that has Thunder Bay written on the side of it and some great rusty chains for Dawn's signs. Oh, and garden tools. I always pick up any vintage garden tools I can find. I even found an old Tom Sawyer book (I have quite the collection of old books).

I can just picture this rocking chair painted up and distressed ever so slightly.

Isn't the yellow retro table cool? Dawn wants to use it as her new work table here at the shop.

Us girls love junkin almost as much as we love painting!
