Homestead House milk paint is now available!

I am super thrilled to announce that I have added some new colours of milk paint to my on-line shop. Now you will have an even more amazing selection to choose from!

Homestead House Paint Company is a Canadian company that manufacturers Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint and the new Fusion mineral paint. They have made their Homestead House line of milk paint for over 25 years and they really are the leader in the industry.

As usual, I have a story to tell. Initially when I started up my business I decided to start with Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint because quite frankly, I only had so much money to invest in my business start up. I also wanted to test the waters for my on-line business. Yes, I love to paint but did I have the business skills to make this adventure work? A passion for painting and the knowledge necessary to have a successful on-line business are two very different things (and it is a darn good thing that they make so many good "for dummies" books!)

Perhaps I am just overtired today, but I am feeling quite emotional as I type this. Perhaps even a little teary-eyed. You see, in the beginning my sales were slow and I kept on phoning my sister, Sheila, and telling her about how hard I was trying to make this thing work. How I was putting every waking moment into a business that I believed in, but the learning curve was high and maybe I just didn't have the skill to pull this off.

I had never taken photos of furniture before. I had never written a tutorial before and I had never written a blog post. I never had a personal facebook page, never mind a business facebook page. That's a whole lot of "nevers" to oversome, isn't it? But the most important never is - I never gave up!

Having said that, I have just one more thing to say until I get on with the real purpose of this blog post. I want to say thank you! Thank your for reading my blog and facebook page. Thank you for sending me such wonderful and encouraging emails. Thank you to all the Thunder Bay area folks who I've had the pleasure to meet in person. Thank you to all my on-line customers. Without you all, I could never have expanded my business to include the Homestead House milk paint line or the Fusion mineral paint line.

Back to business - these are the 19 new colours available in my on-line shop. Aren't they gorgeous?

Are you wondering where the color collages are for these new colours? Well, my collage fairy is taking a well needed break and recharging her wand (which really means I haven't made collages yet but I will in the future).

This year I have painted, photographed and put together so many colour collages that my head is spinning.

Fusion mineral paint in bedford - via My Painted Door (.com)

The Fusion mineral paint line included 24 collages.

Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint in french enamel - via My Painted Door (.com)

Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint was another 18 collages.

Sweet pickins milk paint in red wagon - via My Painted Door (com)

And another 22 collages for the Sweet Pickins milk paint.

In all honesty, I don't quite have it in me right now to go for a 4th round of undertaking such a huge project.

I really need to re-group, buy a whole bunch more things to paint and most importantly, I need to come up with a creative idea for showcasing the Homestead House colours. So if you have any suggestions for a unique and fun idea on how to make up another 19 collages, please leave me a comment! Thanks!
