A while back I wrote a blog post about my friend, Erylnn Beadle, painting up some great little pieces that were leftover from my Vintage Market. Well, Erlynn came back for another visit and took home some more "leftovers". I'd like to say that my back 40 is looking empty, but it is not. I keep on buying neat things for my market next year.
This little milking stool was already painted white. Boring white.
Erlynn painted it with Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Eulalie's Sky and distressed it so the white showed through. Now it is absolutely charming!
You can't imagine how thrilled I was when Erlynn showed up at my shop and she had painted two stools. I love stools! This little one was stained a dark brown and it was really ugly. Yup, sure was.
Erlynn painted it in Homestead House Milk Paint in the colour Loyalist.
The top was painted in Curio. Erylnn watered down the milk paint and used it as a stain. The wood was really "weird" and the paint really showed variations in colour. Erlynn wasn't sure if she liked the top and considered re-painting it. I actually loved the variations in colour! I think it adds character and gives the stool an authentic aged appearance.
Erylnn also topcoated this stool with Hemp Oil and then applied Antiquing Wax to the top area that was painted Curio.
I just had to take one shot of this vintage shoe valet and brush. Love it!
These little signs are made from metal, so Erlynn added MMSMP Bonding Agent to ensure the paint would adhere well.
She painted them in Eulalie's Sky and then dry brushed Marzipan over top.
Erlynn is very talented at hand lettering. That is one thing that I am really lousy at. Stencils are my weapon of choice!
She then topcoated the signs with MMSMP Furniture Wax.
All of Erlynn's painted pieces are for sale in my shop and would make great Christmas gifts.
Here is a before shot of the stool and the metal signs. I told you the stool was ugly! I have said it many times and I will say it again ... the magic of milk paint!
Speaking of Christmas gifts ... my sister, Sheila, claims to ALWAYS read my blog. So, if she reads this and gives me a jingle, I will mail this to her. This is a little test. hehe
But seriously, I have to do a ruthless plug here. I have Gift Certificates available in my shop. Maybe you can drop enough hints and receive one for Christmas.
Last minute I decided to take a quick picture of my recent score. Although I use a shop vac around here, it will be charming hanging on my wall.
