Sometimes I forget that not all of you can visit my shop (but I wish you could!) If you did visit, I would be chatting up a storm and showing you what's new around here. So, for those of you who order paint on-line, I thought I would share some new products.
ESPRESSO WAX! I am super excited about this one! Homestead House Paint Company has a great new Espresso Furniture Wax that is suitable to use with both Fusion Mineral Paint and milk paint.
I've been playing around with it and I will take photos to share with you soon.
Many of you are familiar with Miss Mustard Seed's Antiquing Wax and I know someone is going to ask "what's the difference?"
Well, I'm not always great with words, so here's the scoop from Loree Pringle who is the owner of Homestead House Paint Company. She was recently asked this question on facebook and this was her answer ...
"The Antiquing Wax has a definite black tone, similar to a build up of soot or smoke from woodstoves etc. (how they used to heat their homes many years ago). The Espresso Wax is definitely more brown to get that aged look of old oil base paint that tends to yellow as it ages, so it's a combination of the yellow as well as brown dirt buildup. "
Well said Loree.
I am pleased to hear that brown dirt buildup is a desirable look because my home is looking like that right now. I tend to work in my garden and then tramp through without taking my shoes off. hehe
This is totally off topic ... a couple days ago I booked a flight to Toronto and I am going to Homestead House for a visit! I'll see Jennylyn, Loree and the rest of the gang and we are going to talk paint. Fusion Paint. Homestead House Milk Paint. Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint. Yup, they make it all. I AM SO EXCITED! Nothing like hanging out with folks that know WAY MORE about paint than I do.
Also new in my shop is Homestead House Furniture Wax which is a clear wax. Again, it is suitable for both milk paint and Fusion Mineral Paint.
What's the difference between this wax and MMSMP wax? Nothing, except the label. Keep in mind that some retailers don't carry both Fusion Paint and milk paint so this was packaged for the Fusion retailers.
Why do I carry both brands of wax? Why not.
Hemp Oil is a wonderful finish to use on milk paint! Blog post: An old crate cabinet painted in Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint
It works great on metal. Blog post: Using Miss Mustard Seed's Hemp Oil on metal
And wood. Blog post: My shop renovations and hemp oiled wall tutorial
And lots of other stuff! Blog post: Using Hemp Oil to revive old wood, leather, cast iron and more.
Fusion has a new brush and it really rocks. It's a 2" synthetic angled brush and the bristles are a gorgeous colour (which is not relevant, but I like pretty things!)
And 3/4" stencil brushes.
Of course, Fusion Mineral Paint is not new, but the labels are and I had to take a few photos to share with you. I love Fusion's new tagline "Paint it beautiful".
The lids are so adorable!
Let's face it, paint is good for the soul!
