The other day I was thinking about when I was a kid and I used to cut letters from magazines and glue them together to make notes. You know, sweet little notes that I'd leave on my sister's bed that said things like "if you ever borrow my shirt again without asking my permission I will KILL you". My sister would know who left the note, but I figured I could deny it if she showed the note to my mom. "Hey, that's not my writing". Let's face it, it's not like a left a note on her door that was being held in place with a knife stabbed through it and blood dripping everywhere.
I've always had a love for words, but now I use them in a slightly different way. I have matured.
Here in my shop, we having been using laser cut words for many of our sign workshops. I finally had a bit of time to photograph them and load them on my website. Many of you have been asking for them and now they are available online! Of course, they are also available in my shop.
The words look wonderful on a sign
or they can just hang on a wall.
All the words are made from 1/8" thick baltic birch 3-ply plywood and are made in Canada.
For those of you that do photography, you are well aware of how a simple photography project can sometimes turn out to be challenging!
I had recently used Hemp Oil on an old table to revive the wood. I thought it would be a perfect backdrop to photograph the words on.
It started off easy! I photographed the small words.
Then I moved on to the large words. Easy peasy simple photos!
And then I ran into a problem. The phrases with multiple words covered the entire tabletop. So I did what I had to do. I grabbed a ladder and stood on the second top rung so that I had enough distance from the camera lens to the tabletop to take photos.
I was so busy concentrating on not falling off the ladder and trying to fit my camera in the small space between the top rungs, that I didn't even notice that my lovely buffalo check shirt was in the photo. Ugh.
Or that the tips of my shoes showed. Double ugh.
After a few reshoots, it was all good. I'm getting way too old to balance on ladders to take photos!
These words grace the planked walls in my shop and look amazing! Overall measurement is approximately 44" wide by 6" tall. I painted mine in Coal Black Fusion Mineral Paint. The planked walls are also painted in Casement FMP.
For now, I have a small but sweet selection of laser cut words. They have been very popular, so in the new year I will be ordering a larger variety of words. You can see all the words here:
I have already received quite a few requests for custom words. Unfortunately this is not something I can accommodate at this time. Sorry!
Pin for later!
