My Painted Door is just over a year old and let me tell you, it's been one heck of a ride! I've had some challenges along the way, but I have been able to work through them. Most of my challenges had to do with learning to believe in myself. Could I actually make a website that worked (complete with a shopping cart)? Would I be able to string together words for a blog without sounding totally ridiculous? Would people ever read my blog? Would I ever sell a single bag of paint? Really, I had no idea about a whole lot of things.
Luckily, I had two things going for me - passion and determination. I was passionate about painting and believed in the products I was selling and I was determined to make this thing work.
I will never forget the day that my website went live. I was so excited to actually have an order on day one. It ended up that my son, Brendan, had placed an order. A few hours later he called me and asked for a refund. He didn't really want any paint, he just wanted to be my first customer. I sure love my boy!
Fast forward to one year later. In December I was featured on Miss Mustard Seed's website. I have been reading Miss Mustard Seed's blog for a long time and seeing my shop featured on Marion's blog was amazing.
In January I was the first merchant to be featured on Fusion mineral paint's blog. Does this make me teary-eyed? Sure does!
My Painted Door is a combination of all the things that I love - painting, photography and being creative. To see my little paint business growing is nothing short of having all my dreams come true.
The last year I have had the opportunity to meet the most amazing people. People that have encouraged me to do what I love and have supported me on this wonderful journey. For that, I thank you!
